Report: LGC Snapshot (April 2016)

  • The spot LGC price opened the month at $75.00 and rose steadily to close at the end of April at $80.10. The price stood at $81.80 as of 13 May.
     
  • Tasmanian hydro storages further declined to new record low of 13 per cent, but have since experienced a rapid rise in May to 20 per cent supported by significant rain and diesel generation allowing the state's hydro generation to drop to its second lowest monthly level since January 2013.
     
  • Average wind energy capacity factor across all tracked wind farms in April was 25.7 per cent.
     
  • The 10.6MW DeGrussa Solar Project and 1.8MW Yulara project in central Australia received accreditation in addition to landfill gas plant and 3 other small solar projects. A further 3 small projects have applications pending.
